Hyatt Regency Kinabalu Ushers in Christmas Celebrations with “The Polar Express”-Themed Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Marking the beginning of the festive season, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu hosted the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony held in the Lobby Lounge. Like the previous 2 years, the hotel continued their effort in conserving the environment by using recycled materials that were found around the hotel to build the eco-friendly Christmas tree.

Hyatt Regency Kinabalu unveiled its Christmas theme for this year, “A Journey to the North Pole”, as a salute to the popular 1985 children’s book written by Chris Van Allsburg – “The Polar Express.”

The Board of Directors, restaurant diners, in-house guests and media friends were in attendance to witness the luminous lighting ceremony. The ceremony began with a lovely speech by the hotel’s General Manager, Thor Gervasi (second from left), followed by the official lighting of the Christmas tree, the climax of the event.

The hotel lobby was transformed into a wonderland with a 10-foot Christmas tree featuring train tracks and spectacular fairy lights.

The hotel also showcased the train station signage in the car porch area and various white-and blue-themed decorations to show the spirit of the season and centred on the wonder of “The Polar Express”, all were made with recycled items.

“Christmas is all about giving, love and care. At Hyatt, we truly want to share the joy of Christmas with those who are less fortunate than us. This year, we are collecting Christmas presents for the children from the orphanage homes of Care for the Future Malaysia, Good Shepherd and Care Haven. We can make a difference in the lives of the orphans with our simple act of generosity,” remarked Thor Gervasi, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu.

THE SEASON OF GIVING

From 1 - 13 December 2018, take a tag from the main Christmas tree at the Lounge who you wish to receive your gift.

CHRISTMAS AT THE RESIDENCE

Happening from 1 - 30 December 2018, there will be extensive festive buffet from Tanjung Ria Kitchen, beautifully decorated Christmas cake and a roast turkey station. Feast on these themed festive dishes!

Roasted Australian turkey. Despite the fact that I never had tasted this roasted big bird before, I actually quite enjoyed the firm meat and the cranberry sauce definitely had helped to tone down the unfamiliar after-taste.

Roasted lamb leg and beef. Just look at that beautiful and rich colours!

There are also turkey stuffing and mixed potatoes.

Not forgetting the Salmon Wellington! Savoury baked puff pastry filled with seasoned salmon which tasted so good especially with the cheese.

Of course, Christmas cake! Both cheese and chocolate cakes tasted so good!

More desserts!

Now, onto the almost endless choices of mouthwatering dishes at Tanjung Ria Kitchen  you can feast on for RM120 (lunch) or RM165 (dinner) per adult. For inquiries, feel free to contact the hotel.

Last but not least, Christmas goodies and cookies at the hotel's Mozaic section.

Visit Hyatt Regency Kinabalu for the unique Christmas experience from 1 December onwards and join in the various activities organized for in-house guests, as well as patrons, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Listen to the mesmerizing Christmas carollers serenading The Lounge from 22-24 December, from 7:30 PM-8:30 PM.

Indeed, it was such a pleasant and warm dining experience especially with the themed lounge area and festive dinner buffet. From the ambiance to the delicious food to overall experience, I'm pretty sure you're going to have a lovely evening with your friends and family. Did you hear the train's whistle already? Come along and experience the journey to the North Pole towards the end of this year.

I guess that's all from me, I'll be seeing you guys on my next post!
